If you’re a breastfeeding mama, especially if you’re breastfeeding a newborn, you probably feel like you spend more of your day nursing or pumping than anything else. And you’re RIGHT…as a new mom, I 100% spent the majority of my day nursing my son, Mason. He seemed to be a marathon feeder – almost every nursing session averaged about 45 minutes, but some were upwards of an hour plus. In the first few months of the newborn phase, baby eats every 2-3 hours around the clock. That’s about 8 feedings per day at 45 minutes to one hour per feeding (in my personal case)…That averages about 6-8 hours of nursing per day. But, even as baby gets older, breastfeeding or...

Mama’s Mental Load During the Holiday Season

On any given day, my mind is racing a mile a minute. Reminding myself mentally to do my son’s laundry…and my own laundry. Making a mental grocery list. Figuring out what my son’s going to wear to daycare tomorrow. Making sure I remember what’s on my work to-do list. Is it time to pump again? What time did I breastfeed last? When’s my husband’s birthday again? What am I going to wear to work today? Where’s my phone? Did we feed the dog? And all these thoughts and more probably occur within 30 seconds…and then they keep going. And going. And going. Well, take all of that and add the stress of the holiday season.
